Our Ministries...

ECCCM

Easter Catawba Cooperative Christian (ECCCM) Ministry is located in Newton, NC about five miles from Bethany UCC. Years ago one of the minister from Bethany, Rev. Banks Shepherd, was instrumental in beginning this vital Catawba County ministry. The congregation continues to volunteer monthly, and they provide monetary and non-perishable items on a regular basis.

Linked In New Creative LINC Ministries

In cooperation with several other UCC churches and Unifour Christian Fellowship Church, Bethany UCC serves the community by volunteering at the Gift and Thrift store in Newton, NC. The LINC Gift and Thrift offers opportunity for community members to donate items and have them resold at a discounted price. The store is open to the public. LINC volunteers also participate in out-of-state and in-state mission trips and smaller household projects in the local area.

The newest ministry related to LINC ministries is in serve to foster and kinship care families in Catawba County. In conjunction with Catawba County Department of Social Services, the LINC churches are helping with children who can no longer stay in their homes. Bethany UCC is active in this “love of children” ministry.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Ms. Lou Grandmaison knits prayer shawls for many people in the church and in the community who need to be wrapped in God’s loving care. This ministry has spread far and wide and touched many peoples’ lives.

Kinship and Foster Care

There are great needs in the kinship/foster care program in Catawba County. The members of Bethany UCC are eager to help children. The kinship/foster care program at Bethany is in its infancy. This winter our members collected coats for all ages of children. We are also part of a card ministry that remembers children on their birthdays. An important contribution from the Bethany congregation is our willingness to take care of children while their kinship/foster care parents are at training, or just need a break. With love for our community, we reach out with the hands and heart of Jesus.
